CANDELARIA, Zambales — A five-day pageant on this northern city of the province rediscovered an virtually forgotten native custom of constructing “laruk-laruk” or rice crisps, authorities mentioned Monday, Oct. 31.
Gov. Hermogenes Ebdane Jr., who hails from this city, mentioned the pageant, which started on Oct. 26 and ended on Monday, highlighted the city’s native tradition, indigenous video games, homegrown produce, and distinctive lifestyle.
“It is a rediscovery of the tradition that outlined us as Candelarians and Sambals, and we hope this can rekindle among the many current era an appreciation of native tradition and ignite [a] love of our city and other people,” Ebdane mentioned in a press release.
